The SAEL programme (Sites d’accompagnement pour les enseignants de langues) deals with online support websites for language teachers. It is a multilateral project made possible by funding from the European Commission. The project’s objective is to produce a practical guide for language policy stakeholders, in order to create, stimulate and improve education support websites for language teachers. It is to be established and maintained by an expert in order to support the project partner’s goals.

Project context
In response to the many changes that language teaching is currently undergoing within the EU, the SAEL project aims to promote the concept of online support for language teachers.
The project is set to facilitate the implementation of innovative recommendations in the area of language policy, providing language teachers with the necessary tools to stay informed on developments in their field as well as supporting their professional development during the present period of transition.

Objectives

  • to improve quality and strengthen the European dimension in language education
  • to support the development of content, services, teaching methods as well as innovative practices in education utilizing IT
  • to promote foreign language acquisition from an intercultural perspective

These objectives recognize the most prevalent methods within language acquisition and language diversity.

Main expected results

  • to improve the quality of partner websites by promoting exchange of good practice
  • to produce a guide for language policy stakeholders establishing online support websites for teachers
