Working conditions

Length of stay

There are three contracts available to language assistants each having its own duration:

• Secondary School (collège/lycée): 7 months from 1^st October - 30^th April (all languages)
  
  
• Primary school (école primaire): 7 months from 1^st October - 30^th April OR 9 months from 1^st October – 30^th June. (for German, English, Arabic, Spanish, Italian.)

You will teach 12 hours per week. Assistants may be assigned to more than one school.

Holidays

You are entitled to the same holidays as your French colleagues and pupils, i.e. one week at end-October, two weeks at the end of the calendar year, two weeks in winter and two weeks in spring. (Click here to view the school calendar for your Académie)

Timetable

• The school week runs from Monday morning to Saturday noon. Pupils have between 26 and 32 hours' classes per week.
  
  
• Generally speaking, lessons last for 55 minutes (secondary level) and 45 minutes (primary).
  
  
• School days start between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. and finish at 5:30 p.m. in secondary school and 4:30 p.m. in primary school.

Salary

EUR 957.21  per month before compulsory social welfare deductions.
